The response to this project has been overwhelming. So happy that this idea seems to resonate with so many people and I am SO grateful that there are so many of you who are willing to let me stand on their beds and come into their private spaces like this. Thank you.
The IN BED sessions seem to definitely appeal to couples. It makes a lot of sense. A lot of moments that have to do with intimacy, love, and relationships happen in bed. It's really lovely how quickly people drop right into these moments when they get under the covers and start to cuddle up with each other. It's a lot faster than when we are out in the woods or walking around a city. These sessions seem to demand sincerity. I knew this would be my favorite part.
Along with the sessions I am asking my IN BED clients to fill out a questionnaire in hopes that their answers will give me some context, more of a framework on how to approach their sessions.
Before manzanita if someone asked me what I "was" I would have quickly replied that I was a writer. I started writing when I was child and majored in it in college. It was my biggest passion. Once I started devoting myself to some of my other passions writing seemed to drop away. I haven't really ever figured out a way to bring it back in an organic way actually.
Story telling has a lot to do with how I approach photography and I think that has definitely influenced my style of shooting and seeing my work. There is something about this project though that seems to be inspiring more language than other ideas I've had. I have so many words in my head about why I feel passionate about this work, and I am hoping the images I gather with it will be enhanced by words. We will see.
